If You Choose
“If You Choose” – the words to
the song are actually from Baba to me, saying, “If you choose,
we’ll stay connected.” I felt Him say that to me many
years ago and it has helped me so much. There is a great deal
we don’t have control over, but perhaps as Baba said, we
have some choice about keeping our connection to the Divine. If
we take one step towards God, He will take 10 steps towards us.
The album has many songs from my younger years
but was produced in 2008. I feel so happy to be able to combine
the passion and simplicity of earlier songs with hopefully the
improved musical choices I may make at this age! I’ve been
joined by incredible musicians and supported by a great studio.
It’s taken a year and a half to put it together. My health
was bad and I had a serious surgery. Before I went into it, I
started this, thinking I just want to archive some songs in case
I die. I was so relaxed because of the low-expectation situation,
that it sounded good – and later, when I clearly lived, a
little at a time, I put it together with great love from friends
and family and beautiful artists.

Mark Malachi and Gabriella met in 1987 and within two years
had played a lot of music, eventually recording 2 tapes together
in 1989 and 1990. This CD is a mix of the songs from these 2
tapes, Blessing for the New Soul and So Close.
Gabriella And Mark's collaborations just as Gabriella was coming
to Baba have a sweetness and simplicity which cause them to
stay in your mind and touch your heart. Mark's mellifluous piano
music and Michael Kovitz and Robert Severinni's clear guitar
parts support the devotional and lilting lyrics. Mark's flute
and percussion add to the tight vocal harmonies by Gaby and
Mark. Each of these songs is like a kiss from Meher Baba every
one is a favorite.

Gabriella and other artists sing 20 songs on 2 CDs. Gabriella's
melodies are set to the marvelous poetry of Bhau Kalchuri's
poems. Bhau is a very dear one to Gabriella and to so many -
one of the few of Meher Baba's closest disciples still with
us. According to Baba's order, Bhau began writing poetry several
decades ago. It takes its place among the ranks of Rumi and
Hafiz. Gabriella has set these poems to soaring melodies and
arranged them for many fine vocalists, flute, cello, piano,
guitar and harmonium.

fire, water and earth. Based on the tradition of Polarity Therapy,
these songs describe the cycle of elements. They are wonderful for
listening, singing and meditation. Gabriella sings and plays
